A reference was made to Petras Rimða's (1881-1961) famous sculpture Lithuanian School (1906, sometimes also called Poverty School),  which depicts a woman sitting at a spinning wheel and teaching her little son to read. This sculpture became a symbol of Lithuanian enlightenment in the times of tsarist oppression. It recalls the period from 1864 to 1904 when after the rebellion in 1863 the Latin alphabet was banned.
