COMMEMORATION OF THE LITHUANIAN BOOK  IN STOCKHOLM

The 450th anniversary of the first Lithuanian book publishing was commemorated in Stockholm, April 5, 1997. The chairman of the  Lithuanian society in Sweden, Mr.  K. Gumauskas, the members and scholars from Lithuania working at  local universities,   students from Lithuania, Swedish scientists, representatives of the Lithuanian Embassy were  guests of this event. Prof. Domas Kaunas (Vilnius University) delivered a lecture about the author of the first Lithuanian book  Martynas Mažvydas and his book.The participants of this meeting visited a grave of famous Swedish scholar   Alfred Nobel.
